Welcome to InVETColombia LLC, where we inspire through Spanish learning and cultural adventures across Colombia’s vibrant landscapes, from Medellín’s Andes to Leticia’s Amazon. These Terms and Conditions govern your use of our website and participation in our tours, ensuring everyone’s on the same page for a “qué chévere” experience. By booking with us, you agree to these terms, so please read them carefully. If you’ve got questions, we’re just a call or email away!
1. Booking and Payment
To secure your spot on any InVETColombia tour, like our salsa immersion in Cali or volunteer program in Cartagena, you must pay a non-refundable deposit, typically 20% of the tour price, at booking. The remaining balance is due 60 days before your tour starts, and we’ll send a reminder to keep things smooth. If you book within 60 days of the start date, full payment is required upfront. Payments can be made via our website’s secure portal or bank transfer, and all prices are in USD, exclusive of taxes or fees unless stated. Failure to pay on time may result in cancellation without refund, but we’ll work with you to avoid that.
2. Cancellations and Refunds
If you need to cancel, our Refund Policy (linked on our site) has the details, but here’s the gist: cancel 61+ days before your tour, and you’ll get a refund minus the non-refundable deposit; 31-60 days, you’ll get 50% back (minus deposit); 30 days or less, no refunds, as we’ve committed to homestays and guides. If we cancel a tour due to unforeseen issues, like weather in Tayrona or local restrictions, you’ll get a full refund or the option to switch tours. No refunds for no-shows or early departures, but let us know if something’s up—we might offer a partial credit for a future trip.
3. Tour Changes
We plan our tours, from Bogotá’s art workshops to Amazon treks, with care, but sometimes we need to tweak things due to weather, safety, or local conditions. Minor changes, like shifting a cooking class time, don’t qualify for refunds, but we’ll notify you ASAP. Significant changes, like swapping a Sierra Nevada hike for another activity, give you the option to accept, switch tours, or get a full refund. You can request changes to your booking 61+ days out for no fee, subject to availability; within 60 days, a $100 fee plus any price differences may apply, and no changes are possible within 14 days.
4. Participant Responsibilities
You’re responsible for ensuring you’re fit for your chosen tour, whether it’s hiking in Cocora Valley or volunteering in Santa Marta. Inform us of any medical conditions, dietary needs, or mobility issues at booking to ensure we can accommodate you, like arranging a suitable homestay. You must have valid travel documents, including a passport valid for at least six months beyond your tour’s end, and any required visas or vaccinations for Colombia. Travel insurance is strongly recommended to cover cancellations, medical emergencies, or lost luggage, as we’re not liable for these. Respect local laws, customs, and our guides’ instructions, especially in indigenous communities or national parks, to keep things safe and respectful.
5. Homestay and Program Conduct
Our homestays, whether in Barranquilla or Leticia, are with vetted families who provide a private room and two meals daily. You agree to respect their home, culture, and rules, like no smoking indoors. During tours, follow our guides’ and instructors’ directions, whether in Spanish classes or dance workshops, to ensure a great experience for all. Disruptive behavior, like disrespecting locals or group members, may result in removal from the tour without refund, but we’ll try to resolve issues first. Let us know if something’s off with your homestay or program—we’re here to make it right.
6. Liability and Risk
Travel and adventure, like trekking Tayrona or volunteering in Cartagena, come with inherent risks, including injury, illness, or property loss. InVETColombia LLC, our partners, and homestay families aren’t liable for these, except where caused by our gross negligence. We take safety seriously, using experienced guides and secure facilities, but you participate at your own risk. You’re responsible for your personal belongings, and we recommend keeping valuables safe, like in a hotel safe during a Medellín city tour. Force majeure events, like natural disasters or political unrest, may disrupt tours, and we’re not liable for resulting losses, but we’ll offer refunds or alternatives per our cancellation policy.

All content on our website, like tour descriptions, photos of Villa de Leyva, or our “InVET” logo, is owned by InVETColombia LLC or our partners. You may not reproduce, distribute, or use it for commercial purposes without our written permission, but feel free to share our site link with friends dreaming of a Colombian adventure. User-generated content, like photos you share with us from a salsa class, may be used in our marketing with your consent—just let us know if you’re not cool with it.
8. Privacy and Data
Your privacy’s a priority, as outlined in our
Privacy Policy. We collect data like your name, email, and travel details to process bookings and personalize your experience, like matching you with a homestay in Bogotá. We don’t sell your info and only share it with trusted partners, like language schools or volunteer organizations, to deliver your tour. Contact us if you want to access, update, or delete your data—we’re transparent, like a clear Amazonian river.

9. Governing Law and Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Iowa, USA, where we’re based. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of Scott County, Iowa, but we’d rather sort things out over a virtual coffee first. If you’ve got an issue, reach out to us directly, and we’ll aim to resolve it within 30 days. Mediation’s an option before any legal steps, keeping things as friendly as a Paisa welcome.
10. Changes to Terms
We might update these terms as our tours evolve, like adding a new volunteer project in Leticia. Changes will be posted on our site, and we’ll notify you via email if they affect your booking. Continued use of our site or services after updates means you accept the new terms, so check back before booking your next adventure.
