Refund Policy

At InVETColombia LLC, we’re all about sparking inspiration through Spanish learning and cultural adventures across Colombia’s vibrant landscapes, and we want you to feel confident booking your journey with us. Our Refund Policy is designed to be fair and clear, covering what happens if plans change for our tours, from salsa in Cali to treks in the Amazon. Life’s unpredictable, like a sudden rain in Bogotá, so we’ve got your back with a straightforward process. Read on for the details, and if you’ve got questions, we’re just a call or email away!

Booking and Deposit

When you book a tour with InVETColombia, you’ll pay a non-refundable deposit, usually 20% of the tour price, to secure your spot, whether it’s a one-week salsa immersion or a six-month Andes-Amazon odyssey. This deposit covers upfront costs like reserving your homestay or coordinating with our language schools in Medellín or Leticia. The remaining balance is due 60 days before your tour starts, and we’ll send you a reminder so you don’t miss it. If you book within 60 days of the start date, full payment’s required upfront, no sweat.

Cancellation by You

If you need to cancel, we’ll do our best to work with you, but refunds depend on when you let us know, since we’ve got commitments to local families, guides, and communities. Cancel 61 days or more before your tour starts, and we’ll refund everything except the non-refundable deposit, so you’re out just that 20%. Cancel between 31 and 60 days before, and you’ll get 50% of the paid amount back, minus the deposit, as we’ve likely locked in bookings like your Tayrona trek. Cancel 30 days or less before, and unfortunately, no refunds are possible, since costs like homestays in Cartagena or volunteer projects are already set. To cancel, just email or call us, and we’ll process your request within 10 business days, maybe a bit longer if we’re sorting things out in the jungle.

Changes to Your Booking

Want to switch from a Bogotá art semester to a Santa Marta beach escape? We’ll try to make it happen! If you request a change 61 days or more before your tour starts, we’ll transfer your payment to another tour of equal or greater value, subject to availability, with no fee. Within 60 days, changes depend on space and may incur a $100 admin fee, plus any price differences, since we’ve got to reshuffle things like your homestay in Barranquilla. No changes are possible within 14 days of the start date, but reach out anyway—we’ll see what we can do.

Cancellation or Changes by InVETColombia

Sometimes, things out of our control, like weather in the Amazon or local regulations, might force us to cancel or tweak a tour. If we cancel your tour before it starts, you’ll get a full refund, including the deposit, processed within 10 business days. If we need to make significant changes, like swapping a Cocora Valley trek for another activity, we’ll notify you ASAP and offer a choice: accept the change, switch to another tour, or get a full refund. Minor changes, like adjusting a cooking class time, don’t qualify for refunds, but we’ll keep you in the loop so you’re not caught off guard.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend travel insurance to cover unexpected hiccups, like illness or flight cancellations, that might keep you from joining your tour. Insurance can protect your investment, especially for longer programs like our six-month Andes & Amazon odyssey, since our refunds are limited closer to the start date. We don’t provide insurance, but we can suggest providers if you need a nudge—just ask!

No-Show or Early Departure

If you miss your tour’s start or decide to leave early, whether it’s a salsa class in Cali or a volunteer project in Cartagena, no refunds are available for unused portions. We’ve already committed funds to your homestay, guides, and activities, so we can’t recover those costs. If something urgent comes up, let us know anyway—we’ll try to support you, maybe with a partial credit for a future tour, depending on the situation.

How to Request a Refund

To request a refund or discuss a cancellation, contact us with your booking details, like your tour name and start date. Reach out via email at [email protected], and we’ll respond within 48 hours, maybe a bit longer if we’re coordinating with partners in Leticia. You can also call us at +1 563-387-8237, Monday to Friday, 9 AM to 5 PM CST, and we’ll walk you through the process. Refunds are processed to your original payment method within 10 business days of approval, and we’ll keep you updated. Final Notes

This policy applies to all InVETColombia tours booked directly through our site or authorized partners. We’re committed to making your Colombian adventure, from Spanish classes to cultural immersion, as smooth as possible, and that includes being upfront about refunds.
